Condor Biological Station
✽ Biological Station in San Luis
Andean Condor Monitoring and Conservation Centre
We launch the first Biological Station entirely dedicated to the monitoring and study of the Andean condor—Vultur gryphus—in the region. This scientific centre is being built thanks to the support of Patagonia and enjoys the prestigious patronage of the Fundación BioAndina. Together, we are consolidating a research starting point within the Nature Reserve Quebrada del Palmar, integrating the Network of Condor Sanctuaries to ensure the future of this emblematic species.
✽ Strategic Goals
Key Areas
Censuses and Surveys
To determine the Andean condor population density in the central mountain valley, we implemented systematic observation methods during seasonal censuses.
Research and Monitoring
We are a technical data collection centre for the health of the habitat and the analysis of the food web that keeps the region’s huge scavengers alive. .
Threats Prevention and Mitigation
This area focuses on the early detection of toxic baits, the contingency plan design for wildfires, and the education of the community to reduce conflict between human activities and wild fauna.
The Yurta Biological Station
Thanks to the support of the Patagonia Environmental Grants Programme, our operational base is now a reality: a 100% solar infrastructure with minimal impact to safeguard the skies.
Your contribution helps us to complete the final 20%. Your collaboration is directly allocated to the interior finishes and the technical monitoring equipment.

✽ Scientific Sponsorship
Fundación Bioandina
Thanks to the patronage of the Fundación BioAndina, the Biological Station was born and developed. Through this alliance, we are official members of the Andean Condor Conservation Programme—PCCA—, ensuring that our monitoring and census work meets the highest international scientific standards.
Network of Condor Sanctuaries
A commitment to the natural heritage of the continent.
By joining the network led by the Fundación, the Nature Reserve Quebrada del Palmar becomes a strategic centre for:
Wildlife Corridors: Ensuring safe spaces for the movement and survival of the species.
Networking for Science: Exchanging technical data with other sanctuaries to strengthen the health of the ecosystem.
Cultural Custody: Protecting the condor as an emblem and living heritage of our land.
Collaborate With the Biological Station
Your contribution is the final push we need. We are 20% away from finishing the technical infrastructure necessary for this sponsorship to translate into full operability. Each collaboration helps us to finish bioconstruction details and to complete the equipment.
